The Institute for Cyber Enabled Research, iCER, is holding a logo competition open to the MSU Community. The goal is to provide a logo for use in official letterhead and the iCER website.

Who are we?
iCER’s goal is to make advanced, high performance computing useful to students and researchers at MSU. We provide access to a large number of computers (over 1500), large amounts of disk space, high speed networks and other specialized equipment. We also offer help on how to use this specialized equipment, to further research in anything from history to particle physics. More information can be found on the web site at http://www.hpcc.msu.edu .

Guidelines

Submitters are allowed to send in multiple entries.

Artwork MUST be original

The logo should contain the text “iCER”. If possible, it should also have the text “MSU”. If the main logo doesn’t contain the text “Institute for Cyber Enabled Research”, an alternative version for use as a web banner should.

Keep in mind that the logo will be featured prominently on the web site, t-shirts, program booklets, banners, and more! Make sure your logo will work on any background color.

Name your file using your first and last name (example: sallysmith.ai). If you submit more than one file, follow the same guidelines and add a number at the end. (example: sallysmith1.ai, sallysmith2.ai, etc.).

Submission Instructions
The deadline to submit a logo design is Sunday, October 25th. Please email all responses to icer@msu.edu.

File specifications
Submissions must be one of the following formats using Vector graphics:

Adobe Illustrator (.ai)

Encapsulated PostScript (.eps)

Adobe Photoshop (.psd)

If Raster graphics are utilized, please use the highest resolution possible.

Prize
The winner of the competition will be awarded $500. iCER reserves the right not to pick a winner. Additionally the winner will be announced on the iCER website once the competition is completed.

Each Entrant agrees, by the submission of such entry, that, should he or she become a winner or runner-up in the competition, he or she shall take all reasonable steps to ensure that all rights be completely transferred to iCER.

MSU is making a renewed commitment to on-campus high-performance computing. To this end, a new institute, the Institute for Cyber Enabled Research, has been formed. Not only will this Institute provide expanded resources for users of high-performance computing, but support for other cyber-enabled research will be available as well. This kick-off meeting will introduce the institute, a new structure for the High-Performance Computer Center, and opportunities to participate and shape the future of high-performance computing at MSU.
